"In the second round of eight bowler matches, Dominik fought it out in 5 games with the tournament’s first woman qualifier, Jerilyn Keller, also a 188 average bowler. With Keller taking the first game 199 to Dominik’s 169, he came back with match play high game of 275 to beat Keller’s 238. But Keller made it two with 210 over Dominik’s 174 and Dominik took the next two with 226 to Keller’s 203 and ousted her with his 233 to her 182. For her best win-loss record, Keller was selected as the wildcard qualifier."
"Giant Killer Jerilyn Out Did Annika by Qualifying in Men’s Tourney
A two-time member of Deaf Team USA, Jerilyn Keller from San Antonio, TX, became the first deaf woman bowler to qualify for the top 16 men match play round by placing 15th place with a 2356 total for an average of 196. Keller who entered with a 188 average showed that she can do it with a run of 223-200-227 in her first round’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th games. In her second round’s 8th game, she hit a 221 and with aid of her first ever converted spare of the “Greek Church” split 10th game for a 209. After that, Keller had her worst game 145 but regrouped to finish with a 228 for her total 2356 total.
Then Keller earned the title of “Giant Killer” when in the first round beat three of five match play against the much heralded deaf pro, Peter
Kaczmarczyk, she beat him three games to one, Kaczmarczyk won the first game 204 to Keller’s 181 but Keller came back winning the next three games with 235-207-235."
"Although she lost in the next round to the eventual winner, Johnny Dominik in 5 games, Keller was selected as the wildcard qualifier on her best win and loss record. She faced Darron Poor of Shoreview, MN in a one game wildcard match and won her game 193 to Poor’s 182. Then in the semi-finals match against another heralded deaf PBA bowler Frank Gallo of Lanham, MD. Keller was not herself and lost with her worst game 119. In that game, she had three splits and two washouts. Then in one game consolation match for 3rd and 4th places, she came back with a 206 but lost to former pro, Bob Brame’s 226 game and placed 4th. Not bad for a lone woman entrant in the field of 34 men and became the first woman qualifier."
